I got copies of the 2nd edition for my daughters and wife she already cooks great "Amchi" food as they had the 1st edition and really like it.

For non-Konkani people, get this book and get ready for the best lip smacking treat of your life. The illustration is elaborate and dishes are wide ranging.

Some of the dishes are from the way past and not in vogue. Good to see those also captured. It has authentic recipes explained in simple terms A real boon for new entrants in the kitchen. This is a great book to have as it covers most recipes used in traditional konkani cooking. As the author mentioned, there are variations from different Saraswat sub-groups, but the basics are the same. This is a fantastic reference for me as I can quickly refer to it while cooking and it adds to the existing repertoire of recipes passed down from my mom, aunts and grandmom!

A must have for all Saraswats out there!! I bought this book for my daughter who wanted to experiment with dishes but realised that it contained dishes which even I as a "seasoned" cook had forgotten the existence of. The tips given for each recipe and the variations for each make the book a must have. Not just for konkani saraswats but for all those who love the variety in Indian cooking.
