The DTMF tone is a form of one way communication between the dialer and the telephone exchange. A complete communication consist of the tone generator and the tone decoder. In this article, we are use the IC MT, the main component to decode the input dial tone to 5 digital output.

These digital bits consists of pressed key code 4-bit and 1-bit to tell that data is available. Manufactured using CMOS process technology, the M offers low power consumption 35 mW max and precise data handling. Its filter section uses switched capacitor technology for both the high and low group filters and for dial tone rejection. Its decoder uses digital counting techniques to detect and decode all 16 DTMF tone pairs into a 4- bit code. External component count is minimized by provision of an on-chip differential input amplifier, clock generator, and latched tri-state interface bus.
